For most of the last two decades, the Rondout-West Branch tunnel that ferries half of New York City’s water supply from reservoirs in the Catskill Mountains has been leaking some 20 to 36 million gallons a day. This is a major public works undertaking and a very good use of economic stimulus money for upstate New York where unemployment tends to run high. See: http://is.gd/9SbT
